RABBIT EARS & POT PIE
Yikes, amighty! My cell phone appears to be on a melt-down and won’t take a charge! Horrors!
My $40 dollar coupons for the TV converter box arrived today and I am off to buy one or possibly two. I figure as February gets closer, the price of the box will only go up - unless it’s federally controlled. Does anyone know? Heck, I’m taking no chances.
Yes, I am one of those strange people who never thought cable was worth $60 a month and I still use rabbit ears – and they work just fine.
You know it’s a slow day and winter is coming when the hottest topic on the Talkback forum is chicken pot pie. I’m not that partial to it – never had it much growing up. But chicken and dumplings and true chicken pot pie – the kind with a crust and no noodles (gasp!) - are two of my favorite things.
Well, I’ve just angered most of Lancaster County! Yikes! Pot pie noodles are thick and gluey and have no flavor. There, I said it.
Remember – my cell phone appears to be on its last legs so please don’t call me angry about the whole pot pie thing.

FOCUS ON THE CONSTITUTION!
Ron Harper, Jr. had to file a Petition for Emergency Relief and go to court so he and Lancaster Post co-publisher, Chris Hart Nibbrig, could attend a public ACLU event focused on the Constitution on F&M’s property.
Can you even begin to fathom how ludicrous, sick and absurd that is? And there was not a single word about it in the Lancaster Newspapers.

FRY IS TOASTED!
Franklin & Marshall College President John A. Fry’s lying and arrogance has backfired to burn him hard.
NewsLanc.com has this excellent story today, “TRRAAC attorney: F&M trying to pull wool over public’s eyes,” (click here).
You see, Mr. Fry, your June 19 “public presentation” was no such thing because both Ron Harper, Jr. and Chris Hart-Nibbrig, co-publishers of the Lancaster Post, were barred from attending. You can’t claim it was open to the public by any stretch of the imagination. You denied access to two reporters on false and bogus charges.
And what is simply astonishing is that it was on the very next day, June 20, F&M issued a press release saying it was dropping the criminal charges against Harper and Hart-Nibbrig – but their “ban” from stepping foot on F&M property for the rest of their lives was “continued” by F&M.
Hart-Nibbrig is now working for NewsLanc. Will his ban be enforced? Will publisher Robert Field take legal action against F&M? Will he go to court to force F&M to let his reporter attend public meetings on F&M’s property the way Harper had to?
Why hasn’t the national press picked up these stories? Maybe because the Lancaster Newspapers shamefully and unethically haven’t covered them? Can you imagine if F&M “banned” one of their reporters?

“Not Allowed to Contact Anybody”
F&M DOES IT AGAIN!
LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall College President John Fry announced today that the college has received a $10 million grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, plus a matching donation of $10 million from a longtime supporter, Mrs. Ann Barshinger, to help fund construction of a state-of-the-art Life Sciences building.
The two $10 million investments represent the largest grant and largest private gift in the College’s 217-year history, and propel the funding for the project to the halfway mark.

Carin Becker of Floor N More in York received the contract to install the flooring in the building. Turner Construction Company, an international giant, was the general contractor and Patterson & Company, of Philadelphia, was a sub-contractor. Becker’s company was a sub-contractor for Patterson.
The job was for $400,000. Her company began work Christmas week in 2006. They walked off the job in August of the next year with the work 99% completed – but they hadn’t been paid for several months.
Becker is suing Patterson but was desperate for the money she was owed. She in turn owed companies for construction material and owed workers their pay.
She turned to Franklin & Marshall College. They had stayed on the job as long as they did because they felt the college was reputable and would come through and help them.
“Fry [F&M President John A. Fry] wouldn’t speak to me. He wouldn’t talk to us. He wouldn’t help us,” Becker said in a phone interview on Saturday.
So Becker contacted the state who kicked in $10 million and Ann Barshinger, a huge contributor to F&M and the contributor of $10 million to this specific building.
Franklin & Marshall did not like that one little bit. Becker received a threatening phone call and a letter from attorney Al Taylor telling her she was not allowed to speak about it or talk to anyone about it. And Becker was specifically told she was not “allowed” to speak to any benefactors of the college.
Al Taylor is a partner in the law firm of Taylor & Taylor in downtown Lancaster and was hired by F&M to be the compliance officer on the project. A call was placed to him this afternoon and a voicemail explaining the circumstances and requesting a return phone call was left.
Becker has hired Tom Beckley, Sr., of Beckley & Madden in Harrisburg, to represent them. She has spent thousands of dollars so far and also sent him the letter from Al Taylor representing F&M. Beckley was not in his office today and could not be reached for comment.
Becker is shocked. “F&M needs to be stopped. Fry is not being honorable. He should stand up and do the right thing.”
Instead, Fry and F&M thought they could threaten and intimidate her to be quiet. They apparently also felt they had the authority to violate Ms. Becker's Constitutional rights and tell her who she could and could not call.
“I thought he was honorable and ethical. He’s not,” Becker said of Fry.

HYPOCRITES!
I received this email from Carin Becker, owner of Floor N More in York, on November 4:
I stumbled across your blog, about F&M seems they are all a bunch of hypocritical idiots all guised as a institute of higher learning! I worked on the Life Science building doing most of the floors. When I contacted the state and Ann Barsinger the college threatened me with a suit. I have yet to be paid the balance due me of 82K + and attorney fees of more than 25K. They say they want WBE business but in truth they just want someone to take advantage of. I would love to speak with you some time. They have harmed me and hampered my business efforts. I am trying to get a loan from an individual or institution even offering 12% interest, take it out of the stock market and earn the 12% I have asked, All due to the F&M people not doing the right thing causing me financial harm. Give a shout when you get a chance.
I gave Carin a shout yesterday. F&M President John A. Fry’s days are numbered. I will have the full story tomorrow after I hopefully talk to the attorneys involved.
Some other quick notes today: The Lancaster Post is not done yet! Did you think Ron Harper, Jr. would go quietly into that good night? No way! He will be back. I can’t wait…

Solitary, solitary, solitary. You are wrong, wrong and more wrong. And you also found the very first “article” that was posted on the lipnews website in October of 2004. It was a parody of Talkback and, of course, Gil Smart. It was in response to one of his incredibly stupid columns (notice nothing has changed in four looooong years) titled something like this, “How I Got This Way – I Used to be a Republican, You Know.”
Argh. Just typing that causes me to relive the horror of the two minutes wasted reading that crap!
Any way, solitary, you are not “silly.” “Silly” was Sally and “darling” was Starling – "both" later became infamous as the men’s “rights” sicko I chased off the forum several years later. How could you make this kind of huge error?
Sally also liked big trucks, solitary. If you research it and it’s still there, she started a thread with a picture of a monster truck about the time of the piece and posted that she liked big trucks !
I have been silly, myself, all this week. It must be Obama’s win! I will try to get serious tomorrow.

I am saddened today. Local writers are disappearing in droves. We lost Lanco Yokel over a month ago. Artie See, an excellent writer for the Lancaster Post, has decided it’s “Time for a break,” (click here).
And of course, there is the Lancaster Post, whose co-publishers announced last Friday they were suspending the published version of the paper to concentrate on their website.

Chris Hart-Nibbrig, formerly co-publisher and feature editor of the Lancaster Post, has returned to NewsLanc as a part time reporter and contributor.
While I’m glad Chris will be writing, it does not make the future for the Post any brighter.
And I have a real problem with the quote at the top of this story. News articles should be “provocative.” The definition from Merriam-Webster’s:
Serving or tending to provoke, excite, or stimulate.
That is simply ridiculous, Robert Field! Why would anyone read something that is not provocative? That’s why it’s called “news.” If you fail to understand that fundamental aspect of the business, you are in serious trouble. And what a nasty “article” to publish right after the Post suspends publication! Wow!
I, on the other hand, am not going anywhere, and hopefully the election tomorrow will cheer me up! Go, Obama!

I just want to let you know that I will be sending you a resignation letter later this week to pass on to the company. I also want to let you know that I will be seeking a civil suit naming you and the Columbia Consolidated Fire Department, and I will contact Jack Nichols, your attorney shortly, and be Pro SE in the early stages of this matter.
I feel that I have given you and the department enough time to come to your senses and rescind my suspension. Please make sure to give your copy of the print out to your lawyer so I can use it as evidence. I’m going to stay with the email that is posted immediately below today. I totally dislike liars. I have no time, whatsoever, for them. Bigstew is a huge liar. I will come back to this tomorrow and then I’m done with it – and him.
My brother doesn't appear to be a nice person, and maybe I'll have to wonder if he deserved all of this for the rest of my life. I know a different Micah, one I'll never know again. Regardless if justice was served here, this ordeal has stripped my ability to believe that I can count on the constitution to protect me. Especially when I think of the other trial against Micah, a total fabrication, which led to a conviction (even though it was thrown out, it still made it to a conviction).
There is more to be said, but I am tired and need rest. But I wanted to thank you for being fair in your trial coverage, and for holding LNP's feet to the fire. You were the only objective voice in my opinion.

When you think about it, Angie and Mike expect everyone to believe that the most incredible circumstances just swirled around them, almost like the Twilight Zone... I mean after all, they must be having the worst luck ever...
What are the odds that Mike and Angie are having a sleazy affair and then some stranger in the night hops the fence and kills Jan, an hour or so after Mike makes one of his many calls to Angie...
What are the odds that Angie would choose some form of birth control that would fail miserably while she is having a hot and heavy affair with Mike...Poor kids, if not for bad luck, they'd have no luck at all!
Give us a break. Angie, it's 2008. Even for people trying to get pregnant it's not always that easy. An ooopsie? I don't think so. There are plenty of methods for married, adult women to avoid an unexpected pregnancy. Especially if they are having sex on a regular basis with someone else's husband...

Denver, PA has been shaken to its core. A prominent wife and mother of four is brutally murdered in her home. Her husband is charged with killing her.
What kind of marriage did they have? Was there any love left after 19 years of marriage?
Reportedly, Mike Roseboro has had numerous affairs. It would seem Jan had to know of them. Was their any mutual respect left in the marriage? Was their any happiness? Did they fight behind closed doors?
Did Mike Roseboro really fall madly in love this time and was he really going to leave Jan to marry Angela Funk? Was he serious or was it just a game he has played before?
Most argue that this affair was no different than the others. It was a contrived game Mike liked to play.
On the other hand, Angela Funk seems to have fallen hard and fast for Mike. Was it really love or was it the money?
Will we ever know what really happened in that home on the night of July 22nd? Did Jan threaten his livelihood? Did Mike lose control? Or was it premeditated? Did Funk play any role?
Many people have said there are far better ways to “off” a spouse. He could have buried her body or had it cremated. He was in the funeral business, after all.
Yes, but you still have a missing mother of four and then it becomes harder to blame it on a random jewelry robber with a penchant for cleaning.
The effects of this are rippling through the community. There are reports of possible prior mistresses being interviewed by the District Attorney’s Office. There are suggestions that some women are having to break the news to their husbands that they had an affair with Roseboro.
And there are the children. There is sadness and grief and sorrow.
Two self-centered, narcissistic people found each other. And a mother of four is dead and a town is reeling. And the repercussions have only begun.

~ A Chief Who’s A Thief? ~
RESIGN GRAEFF!
They had 24 candidates for the position of the Manor Township Policy Chief. Twenty-four according to an article in the May 8, 2007 issue of the New Era titled, “Manor hires Berks lieutenant as new police chief.” The article says this:
Graeff was chosen by the township from among 24 applicants, ranging from those from Lancaster County to candidates from as far away as Ohio and even Mississippi, Smith added [Township Manager Barry Smith].
So, let me get this straight – out of 24 candidates they hired Todd Graeff, a man with an open case in front of the Pennsylvania Ethics Commission for taking advantage of 911 and using public money to pay for a course in Ireland on the culture of Ireland alleging it was a course in “anti-terrorism training?”
What world do they live in? And in today’s Sunday News article, “Police chief violated state ethics code,” by Gil Smart he quotes John May, the chairman of the township board of supervisors as follows:
"We knew all about this; he was not trying to slip something over on us," said May, who also suggested "politics" played a role in the confidential complaint that triggered the probe.
I don’t care who or what triggered the probe. He was found guilty! He appealed and it was denied. He lied. He stole the public’s money while working for a police department and you hire this man as your chief law enforcement officer? You are obviously grossly incompetent and stupid, Mr. May.
This should have been reported by the Lancaster Newspapers when the Ethics Commission ruled in February of this year. He should have stepped down. LNP should have reported on this again in May when his appeal was denied and the Ethics Commsision upheld the guilty verdict. If he hadn’t already resigned, he should have resigned then.
The Sunday News article quotes Graeff as follows:
Graeff just wants it all to go away.
"It doesn't seem that people are interested in what really happened," he told the Sunday News.
"I'm not going to discuss it."
The Sunday News just gave you a chance to tell “what really happened” and you’re not going to discuss it? What really happened is that you lied and stole the public’s money - and you got caught. That’s what really happened.
Resign Todd Graeff.
PART-TIME BERNVILLE CHIEF?
How can this man be a full-time chief in Manor Township earning $73,000 and a part-time chief in Bernville, PA? Bernville is 45 miles away. It’s a suburb of Reading. How much time does he spend there? What is his salary?
I called the Bernville Police Department last week and spoke to a Sgt. Brian E. Thumm who answered the phone. I asked him what Graeff is paid. He said, “I don’t know. Ask him.” I asked Thumm when Graeff is in Bernville. He told me on Tuesdays from about 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Later in the conversation he also said Graeff is there on Thursday nights for about the same hours.
I placed a call to Chief Graeff in his Manor Township office and was given his voicemail. I left a detailed message. He did not return the call.

This is unbelievable! This afternoon, the New Era also sent a reporter to let the F&M bigwigs fuss and moan and cry some more! And they are really, really getting nasty. The New Era title – “F&M: Rail yard foes’ legal work ‘incompetent.’”
The arrogance and incompetence of President John Fry and Keith Orris is simply astounding. And let me just remind readers that Norfolk Southern Railroad never requested or said they need this move. Franklin and Marshall wants it.
So, today I’m again going to send you to the Lancaster Post where Ron Harper, Jr. has an excellent front page story about this train wreck. Of course, Harper is banned from F&M property because he knocked on President Fry’s door twice to get quotes for an article. And his co-publisher, Chris Hart-Nibbrig, is also banned from F&M property because he was helping Harper replace a stolen newspaper box on public property close to Fry’s home. And we all know what F&M Security did to Harper as a result of the newspaper box. First they assault and body slammed Harper, then they held him in a cell for two hours where he alleges he was molested and then it turns out F&M stole the newspaper box in the first place and held it for four days.
That doesn’t even include the recent incident where Harper was denied access as a reporter to a huge public event – Presidential contender John McCain’s rally that was held on F&M property! The words “arrogant” and “stupid” just don’t begin to describe the powers to be at that snooty college.
But back to the Post – don’t miss their great editorial about Gib Armstrong, their great editorial cartoon featuring President Fry, lying Lloyd Smucker who is running for Armstrong’s seat and their “Puff Piece of the Week,” which again features the always deserving Dave Pidgeon! Boy, that’s good stuff and a great issue!
While I’m at it, don’t fail to read NewsLanc’s excellently titled piece, “John Fry: The fraying of town and gown relationships.” The entire article is very good and I particularly enjoy this ending:
F & M's Board of Trustees needs to reflect on how much more damage to its reputation they are going to sustain by retaining John Fry as its president.
Indeed. They also need to reflect on how much more money they will lose in lawsuits directly because of his actions.

I wanted to tell you something I heard from my girlfriend yesterday. She was at Smithgall’s Pharmacy yesterday, and saw 6-7 Lanc. City cops beating a black kid. I didn't think it was right but later on in the day on the 12 o’clock news they said they had arrested 2 kids for those robberies. I know what they did was wrong - but 6-7 cops beating a kid. What is wrong with Lancaster??

EDITORIAL: DON’T SUPPORT OUR LOCAL NEWSPAPERS
The Lancaster Newspapers have never run a picture of Angela Funk in their papers. She was Michael Roseboro’s mistress. She testified in the preliminary hearing they had sex on the afternoon of the night Jan Roseboro was brutally murdered. She said they had two phone conversations the evening of the murder.
Michael Roseboro is accused of the murder of his wife and mother of his four children. Funk testified the two planned on getting married and looked at wedding dresses and talked about how she would wear her hair. The Lancaster Newspapers have never run her picture even though they have two on file.
But today the New Era ran pictures of two 15-year-old minority boys on their front page. They are, of course, accused of a crime. And because the police are charging them as adults because a gun was involved, the paper is running their pictures and names.
As I published here before, when I was growing up in Lancaster County, I vividly remember the only time a black person’s picture was in the New Era was when they were accused of a crime. You saw a picture and you knew it instantly.
That may have been the case with a lot of newspapers forty years ago. But it is still the case with the Lancaster Newspapers. It is unconscionable and unbelievable.
A lot of people throw the “hate” word around about this site. She “hates” the Lancaster Newspapers - all she does is say bad things about them.
That is because there is not one good thing to say about them. I love journalism. I love the ideals of the press in this country. I hate to see them being defiled by the Lancaster Newspapers day after day after day.
The New Era ran screaming headlines about Commissioners Molly Henderson and Dick Shellenberger for violating the Sunshine Act. Ernie Schreiber ran two inch headlines that said “STEP DOWN” and “GET OUT.” Of course, they opposed the Newspaper’s publicly funded $200 million dollar downtown nightmare.
In February of this year, the Pennsylvania Ethics Commission ruled that Manor Township Police Chief Todd Graeff violated the state Ethics Act while employed as a Muhlenberg Police Officer. There was not a word in the papers. There were no screaming headlines for him to “STEP DOWN” and “GET OUT.”
Manor Township had 24 applicants for the Chief’s position. They selected Graeff. Did he tell them he was being investigated by the State Ethics Commission? Why has it never been reported?
The newly elected Commissioners violated the Sunshine Law shortly after beginning to serve their terms. The newspapers treated it as if it was one of those things that just happen. There were no screaming headlines. There were no demands they resign.
I believe Molly Henderson’s lawsuit will be the beginning of the end of the Lancaster Newspapers. That can only be a good thing. Another newspaper will come in to fill the void.
An honest, real, non-racist, newspaper that holds public officials accountable and investigates injustice and does what a real press is supposed to do. A newspaper that does not protect certain individuals and institutions because they are in their economic and social circle. It will be a new and wonderful day in Lancaster.

I know there was nothing to read in today’s Sunday News. I mean nothing. Why do they have news in their name? So you have come here. But the Eagles are playing. Hey, hope springs eternal… And I’m hungry. And someone jinxed my dryer and I’m hanging clothes.
So these two emails are in. Thank you both. There will be much more tomorrow on Manor Township Police Chief and part-time Bernville Police Chief, Todd Graeff. Unbelievable.
And the hunt for Randall Funk goes on. And how many women has Michael Roseboro asked to marry him? Wow!
This email in from someone who found Graeff’s annual salary in Manor Township – it was $73,000 when he was hired in May of 2007 – he may have gotten a raise since then:
I am more wound up over this notion that we can pay a guy $70,000 some thousand dollars a year and he is only, really, a part-time manager. I mean, they say he's full-time, but if he's working somewhere else, then he's not full-time. If the Manor Township Chief's job is so easy and doesn't require a full day, then make it part-time pay for the part-time work.
It appears the Manor Supervisors were aware of this when they hired him. Even more amazing is that the Bernville Council seems to be "happy" with a guy who has a serious ethics issues. This is after their former Chief gunned down his ex-wife. You'd think they wouldn't settle for less than a squeaky clean reputation. But then, it is Berks County.
Still looking for his Bernville salary.

I've been reading about the lack of reporting and I just don't think it's a professional reason that there is NO coverage. The association angle, Rotarian or otherwise, would just make it juicier. And being such a prominent Northern Lancaster County family would result in the same.
I have a feeling it's much more than that. The lack of reporting is so glaringly obvious, it screams. I don't know what the tie in is, but there is a definite reason for it. I really am not sure how to pursue my gut feeling and I have no "in" at LNP but I'm going to give it some thought and see if I come up with any ideas. Keep pushing the envelope on it, Becky, in that special way that you do :).
Just as we kept feeling that there is and will be more to the Roseboro story, I am sure in my gut there is a big story here as well. The case is too crazy, too newsworthy for them to just shelve it to honor a professional courtesy.

Here's a great story for you that LNP won't touch. (But you didn't hear it from me!)
The Pennsylvania Ethics Commission has ruled, definitively, that Manor Township Police Chief Todd Graeff violated ethics rules while a Lt. in Muhlenberg Township by stealing 35-hundred dollars from taxpayers by claiming that a trip to Ireland was police related.
He profited from 9/11! While other - good, honest - cops were giving their lives, he claimed the trip was police related - for what he called "anti-terrorism" training. It was NOT and he's been ordered to pay the money back. He falsified timecards, too, so not only did he get reimbursed for the trip, he also got paid his salary at the time by claiming he was "on the clock". It's the lowest of the low for a cop and a person in the public trust.
This is amazing. There has not been a single word of this in the Lancaster Newspapers. He is the Chief of the Manor Township Police Department. The Reading Eagle has a story from September 14, 2008 – Muhlenberg Township wants their money back (click here).
Why hasn’t there been a word about this in the Lancaster Newspapers? Gee, do you think they “missed” the whole thing like they “missed” the arrest of Michael Roseboro.
Why is this man a Police Chief in Lancaster County? Why doesn’t the public know about this terrible violation of the public trust? Why hasn’t there been a word about this in the Lancaster Newspapers? Why is LNP violating their obligation to keep their readers informed and hold public officials accountable?

They also picked up on one of the most ridiculous/childish/stupid columns to come out of an LNP writer in years and I’ll come back to that below.

Totaro and Hackman are doing the divorce stuff because they are conflicted having been in the D.A.’s office when most of the cases were filed.
Well, Hackman knows a thing or two about divorce but I still say they’re drinking at the Hamilton Club. In fact, I found Totaro there the other day and I’ll have our conversation this weekend!

I agree with you there is something suspicious about the non-coverage of Roseboro. My guess would be the funeral home’s connection. Ms. Donna Ward Smith used to talk to the funeral homes all the time before they had paid coverage. I’m sure if questioned the Roseboro’s support the convention center. If Roseboro (father or son) is involved in any of the so-called clubs such as Rotary that might be a connection. I’ll check Hamilton although I’m sure someone already has.
And this in response to my question to a noted newsperson who lives in Lancaster:
To answer your question: "What could cause them to ignore a story that would sell a ton of papers?"
Money and/or political expediency - the ONLY thing that motivates editorial decisions by LNP.

And now to Jeff Hawkes column: “Underwear shortage causes brief panic.” The Post quotes this line:
But what I feel compelled to share with you today is the fact that I'm wearing my son's underwear.
The Post accuses Hawkes of “revealing entirely too much information.” Cute. But this has to be one of the stupidest columns of all times. It goes from deviled eggs to, very sadly, underwear, and then to the economy and Jeff worrying about losing his job. After this, I’d really, really worry, Jeff.
Ah, the underwear. This, folks is just too much for me. I’m sorry. I may sue LNP for causing me to have nightmares for weeks.

I pulled them on, and although I'm no underwear model — you never see an underwear model with a bald spot — I didn't look half bad. Yes, I looked at myself in the mirror. I even turned my back to the mirror and looked over my shoulder.

No, I will not take down the picture of Austin Nissly. Someone needs to knock some sense and decency into this young man. Rachel Rooney is 16 and a run away. She can not live in his truck. She is legally obligated to attend school. She needs to be on her medication. She needs a chance to have a happy, normal life.
If Austin really loved her, he would take her home to her desperate mother. He would take her to a safe, healthy environment so she can attend school, be on her medication and have a chance at a happy, normal life. He would wait for her.
In one way or another, the law will come after Austin if he doesn’t take her home.

Well, it’s been four years of almost daily publishing for LIP News today - and I’m still having a blast. Thank you for reading.
Tomorrow is a big day. Michael Roseboro is scheduled to have his preliminary hearing on the charge that he murdered his wife, Jan, tomorrow morning. Will it be waived? If it is held, will Roseboro’s mistress, Angela Funk be present?
Bill Adams wrote a column for the Sunday News several weeks ago (by the way, he very deservedly earned the Lancaster Post’s “Puff Piece of the Week” award for it) and I will come back to it in detail later, but he did have this sentence:
If they are good at their jobs, journalists give us the "why" behind the "who, what, when and where."
Yes, Bill, good journalists do that. So why haven’t the Lancaster Newspapers given us the “why” behind the Roseboro murder and Angela Funk? Why, Bill?
BLATANT RACISM
There will be more on all of that, of course, later. Today I want to look at two incidents involving the New Holland Police within the last several months.
One involved a 50-year-old white woman and one involved a 22-year-old black woman, both of whom were drunk. One was charged with five counts - including a felony. One was give an involuntary urinary catheterization in the Ephrata Community Hospital and was thrown in jail. One will be “summoned to court.”
The black woman was having a birthday party in her house, everyone was of legal drinking age and there are witnesses to the beginning of her arrest who tell a very different story. Her crime was being black and getting “mouthy” with the police over an alleged loud music complaint. The reports as they appeared in the Lancaster Newspapers:

A 50-year-old New Holland woman is facing several charges after a drinking binge during which she struck an elderly man with her car and consumed alcohol with teenage boys, police said.
New Holland police charged Pauline Zwally on Tuesday with four misdemeanors and a summary offense in relation to the weekend "binge," according to a police affidavit.
Zwally told police she had been drinking for two days when she drove two 14-year-old boys to a restaurant and bought them alcohol.
While leaving the parking lot, Zwally struck 80-year-old Charles Donahue with her Chevrolet Cavalier, police said. The impact knocked Donahue to the ground, and Zwally drove away, according to police.
New Holland police officers Troy Deshong and Jed Custer found Zwally about 15 minutes later at her Brimmer Avenue apartment.
Blood tests performed at Ephrata Community Hospital showed Zwally's blood-alcohol level was between .274 percent and .336 percent at the time of the collision.
The 5-foot-4-inch, 75-pound Zwally admitted the offenses to police, according to court documents.
She was charged with driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident involving injury, endangering the welfare of children and providing alcohol to minors.
….Zwally will be summoned to court to face the charges.
Police use Taser on unruly woman

Faith Mugwe was arrested about 2:45 a.m. Saturday at her home in the 300 block of Brimmer Avenue and charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct, New Holland police said.
Mugwe, 22, became unruly when officers responded to her home for a complaint of loud music, police said.
Told she would not be charged if she turned down the music, police said, she began to yell profanities, refused to give her identification and tried to walk away when officers attempted to arrest her for disorderly conduct.
After putting up a struggle and forcing officers to tackle and handcuff her, police said, she tried to escape through the back window of the cruiser.
Officer Wendell Metzler sprayed her with pepper spray to get her back in the car, but she tried to kick out the back window numerous times, police said.
Mugwe was taken to the police station and was to be treated by New Holland Ambulance for the pepper spraying when she lost consciousness, police said.
During transport to the hospital, police said, she became combative and kicked Officer Christopher Clingan in the chest and shoulder numerous times.
Clingan shot Mugwe with his Taser to subdue her and keep her from injuring him or the ambulance crew, police said.
Mugwe was treated at Ephrata Community Hospital Saturday and was to be arraigned on multiple charges at her release.

Although Reinaker is certainly free to analyze this case as he sees fit, we wish the judge had looked beyond the attorney general's prosecutorial construct. He would have found, we think, a much more complex and nuanced situation in which this newspaper and its reporters were simply trying to do their jobs which is to inform the public.
Ray Shaw, editor of the Intell, in today’s editorial, “The Kirchner case.”
Ray outdoes himself in this editorial. He goes in more circles than a dog chasing its tail – blaming the former coroner, then praising him. But the above is strictly baloney – a flat-out lie.

Reinaker also had words for the newspaper reporters involved in the matter:
"I would be remiss if I didn't also acknowledge the wholly inappropriate role played by the various newspaper reporters in this as well," the judge said.
"Their focus on the pursuit of news, on getting the scoop if you will, resulted in a compromise of their integrity and a total breach of their ethical responsibility as well.
“While immunity from prosecution in return for their testimony in this case may well have been necessary, it in no way mitigates their complicity in this criminal behavior,” Reinaker said.

On February 6, 2007, when the story broke, the editor of the Lancaster Intelligencer Journal, Ray Shaw, wrote a front page editorial titled, “When we become part of the news.” It was simply lies and that morning I went with the subtle post that appears below and is permanently archived here along with the mentioned piece on Brett Lovelace, "A DANGEROUS REPORTER.."
One other quick note today. I spoke with Melissa Hoffer in the District Attorney’s office this afternoon. The preliminary hearing for Michael Roseboro for allegedly killing his wife Jan is still scheduled for Friday morning in the Lancaster County Courthouse. She said the hearing can be waived in the courtroom that morning and if that is the case, Roseboro would not need to attend.

There has been no resolution I know of in the case of 16-year-old Rachel Rooney. This is now getting a little out of control with phone calls and lawyers and all kinds of things – so I am going to steer clear of this and see if the parties can work this out. I will, however, stay on top of this story.
THE ROSEBORO SHOW?
Michael Roseboro is scheduled to have his preliminary hearing on the charge of murdering his wife this Friday at 9:00 a.m. in the Lancaster County Courthouse. I called Allan Sodomsky, his attorney, today.
I spoke with the woman who answered the phone and told her I just wanted to know if Roseboro would be present on Friday or if it would be waived, as many preliminary hearings are. She put me on hold, checked with someone, and came back and said they will not give out that information. She said they will not comment on it until Friday.
Oh, my! Since there is almost zero chance of this not being held over for trial – it all comes down to strategy. I can’t imagine that having Roseboro appear would “help” his “cause.” It sure as heck would be interesting though and a media feeding frenzy. Time will tell and they certainly have to file papers if they are going to waive the hearing. I’ll see what I can find out…

GETTING HIGH? IT COULD BE WORSE!
Now, as some of you know, I was blocked from reading the Talkback forum over the weekend. Thank you for the many emails and proxy use suggestions. My English friend, Galty, suggested I clean my cookies and I did late Sunday and I was back in business. I do not believe that would have worked much earlier and it was really kind of scary – knowing they had your ISP address isolated and being able to block you. Sadly, I could read Smart’s blog, but when I would click on the comments – I would get the board message that I was suspended until 2036!
And a thread was started on the Talkback forum about the whole situation (thank you) and I couldn’t read it! But I will explain the whole situation and answer questions that arose tomorrow. But today I just have to quote one nutjob who says (gasp!) LNP did this for my own good! Who knew they would be so nice and caring to little ole me? This has to be written by my father, my brother Tom, my cousin Phil or a totally crazy Quaker:
I actually feel that LNP is doing this for Becky's own well-being. It is well-documented over at lipnews1 and incesttragedy that she has issues and true heartache. She is a sad person who's psyche deserves to be studied by true professionals. She has an addictive personality and it is ruining her and leading her to write hurtful and untrue things.
One way to look at things is that LNP and TB are a drug to her and she needs them to "function" or "get high." I believe LNP has realized this and they are simply trying to take the drug away from her. Do any of you visit TB for any other reason than entertainment and fun? She visits TB for therapy. She isn't a reporter. She's ill.
You know, when I put out the paper version of “Incest: A Family Tragedy - The Holzinger Story,” I sent it first to a friend who knows my brother Tom and I both quite well. My brother called him and was startled to learn that he “believed” it. The friend said, “She’s saying her father molested her. She’s not saying she’s an alien from outer space.”
Yup, it’s that simple – and complicated – and horrible – and sad. I found a trail of heartache and ruined lives and incest that has gone on to a second generation. I will continue to tell the incest story.
Oh, and just so you know, the Klan isn’t on the Talkback forum for “entertainment and fun.” No, indeed. They are hard at work on their sick and disgusting agenda.

Today, I am honored. Yes, honored. You see, the Lancaster Newspapers, those proud defenders of the Constitution and Freedom of the Press, have blocked me from reading their Talkback forum. That is correct. Unbelievable. They have isolated my ISP address and when I attempt to simply view their forum I get this message:

NIGHTMARE!
I want to introduce myself, I am Jen, Rachel's mother, and even though not many people have heard from me, at least online I just want to thank each and everyone of you for all your support during this difficult time. I am praying Rachel will be returned home soon. I hardly sleep nor eat these days worrying what this pervert may be doing with my daughter. Hopefully enough people will get the word out and maybe, just maybe, someone will listen and something will be done and no other parent will have to go through this nightmare. Thanks again to everyone and especially Jesse for all the help that he has brought my way.

Yes, huge thanks are owed to Jesse who brought this story to light and who continues to try to get Austin Nissly to do the right thing. There are others who are also working on this who prefer to remain unnamed. Rooney should be at home and in school. Why aren’t the authorities helping? Where is the District Attorney’s office?
The Lancaster Newspapers have not mentioned one word about this case, but today the New Era had a front-page, above-the-fold story about a man who allegedly kidnapped his 17-year-old ex-girlfriend (click here). He is Hispanic, so the New Era even ran a photograph of him! The police and the Lancaster Newspapers are taking this very seriously. Why is no one taking Rachel Rooney’s case seriously?

Before I make my regular post today, I wanted to address this piece of garbage. Let’s examine this in detail. What members of my family does this person know?
My brother, Tom, whom I haven’t seen in over five years, and who criminally molested his younger brother and molested his foster brother, is in Botswana, Africa and has been for several years. Is he the one telling you I’m crazy?
His twin, Emily, I haven’t seen in over six years since the Thanksgiving my memories came back. She lives in Vermont. She has known Tom is a pedophile for years and knew about his molesting Steve - but never told the rest of the family. Is that who you’ve been talking to?
My brother, Steve, who was criminally molested by Tom when he was 13, lives in Massachusetts and I haven’t seen him in over six years. One of the last times I spoke to him was on a conference call with all of my brothers and sisters. My mother had been “ill” for all most nine weeks (long story) and my father was not letting her talk to her children and wasn’t giving out any information. Steve (who hadn't seen my parents in over three years) said he would drive the eight hours to their house unannounced so he could find out what was going on and personally check on our mother’s health. The question was raised that my father might block the door and not let him in and what would he do? Steve said my father was old and he was stronger and he would push my father out of the way. Does that sound like a normal family to you? Is that who you’ve been talking to?
Quyen, my “foster” brother lives in Virginia and I haven’t seen him in over six years since the Thanksgiving my memories returned. My parents sponsored him as a Vietnamese refugee when he was in his teens. He was also molested by Tom. He's lived a heterosexual lifestyle since. Is that who you’ve been talking to?
My sister, Anne, lives in Minnesota and has modeled herself after my mother. She has the most contact and has visited Lancaster many times recently to see my parents. She is also the only sibling I have had contact with in years and I have seen her several times and she did me a huge favor. I also wrote about her on my site (click here for “A JOURNEY OF PAIN”). Is that who you’ve been talking to?
Have you been talking to my cousin Phil who lives in Lancaster? He is the son of my father’s brother who also taught at F&M his whole life. Phil's sister, June, said her father molested her and she committed suicide several years ago. Her father was known in family circles to have a huge pornography collection – and numerous affairs. Is that who you’ve been talking to?
He’s the only “close” relative I have in Lancaster except my parents. Is that who you’ve been talking to? How do the (fraudulent) anthropologist and the Radcliffe graduate explain what went on in their family? By saying I am mentally ill? And that explains the whole thing?
I figure, Vicky, you are a complete fraud who wants attention or you are an incest loving Lancaster Quaker. Have some guts, "vicky," and tell us who you’ve been talking to.
A CHANGE OF PACE
I received the below email at 3:33 pm today. Thank you so much. Everyone who comes to my site immediately sees the link to the incest story above. It will never come down. Look at what sexual abuse did to a ten-year old girl (see "CALL THE DA" immediately below on this site).
I've had several grueling days, but have much more time in the next week and I will pick up on the Roseboro case and much more beginning tomorrow. The subject of, and the book, “A Murder in Paradise,” has been raised on several threads on DenverPaOnline.com (click here). I will have something to say about that this week as well. I took some time and read through some of your site, but concentrated most on your story of incest. I can't say how touched I was and I am so sorry you have gone through this. I don't recall any incest in my family but I am a survivor of being with a man with severe Narcissistic Personality Disorder. I survived six years of abuse. I slowly lost my self esteem, my power, my self-trust. When you wrote about having to validate what is normal with your therapist, it brought tears to my eyes. The world I was living in was so dysfunctional I had to write it all down and then bounce it off of others to make sure I wasn't crazy in how I felt about it.
My experience in no way is as deep and hurtful as yours. But I have to send you my utmost respect. You've done what you need to do to let the dirty secret see the light of day. And you've endured people disregarding you. After all, "They'll never believe you." The wrong ones never will, Becky. And the right ones will never let you fall.
I've been thinking about you and your experience all day and just had to say this to you. Some of us "get it". Keep going, and keep healing.

This email in today with the subject line, “Stedman is a bad man...” referring to Lancaster County District Attorney Craig Stedman.
Yes, you know that and I know that, but apparently the District Attorney’s office does not. Please call their office at (717) 299-8100 and express your outrage.
They are charging a 10-year-old girl with two counts of aggravated indecent assault. She doesn’t even know what that means. All she knows is that she saw this being done or it was done directly to her and she was repeating the behavior. Babies don’t come out of the womb knowing how to read or write – or sexually molest another human being.
This is absolutely disgusting. Find out who molested her and charge them. Please call the District Attorney’s office today. The link to this gruesome story is immediately below.
